The hot-shot, pictured, struck just before half-time at Newcastle United's St James Park to set Leicester City on their way to a 3-0 win that took them to the top of the table.
Thanks to interest around the world in the rise of the 28-year-old Foxes frontman from the EVO-STIK STIK NPL to Premier League star and international footballer in the space of five years, Bethel and officials at the First Division South club had been in spotlight all week with requests for interviews flooding in from the international media.
Released by Sheffield Wednesday aged 16, Vardy kicked off his senior career with Stocksbridge Park Steels, breaking into the first team in 2007, pictured below, and spending three seasons at the Look Local Stadium before switching to Halifax Town in 2010. Following his move to Fleetwood Town in 2011 for an undisclosed fee, he signed for Leicester City for a Non-League record transfer fee of £1 million in 2012.
Vardy played on Saturday after recovering from an injury that stopped him from winning his sixth England cap in Tuesday night's 2-0 win over France at Wembley.
