Fond farewell for super physio

By David Watters

Halesowen Town

Halesowen Town say former physio Pete Denham can expect a warm welcome whenever he returns to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club after he stood down to join Solihull Moors.

Despite saying they 'regret' his departure after he agreed to accept an 'attractive' offer from the Conference North outfit, the Yeltz hailed Denham's contribution over the years at their end of season awards, presenting him with a special trophy to acknowledge what Chairman Colin Brookes described as his 'tireless effort, enthusiasm and dedication'.

The physio, who's also worked as the First Division South club's Secretary and stepped up to hold the fort as caretaker manager last season following the exit of former boss Shaun Cunnington from The Grove, is pictured being presented with an engraved glass trophy by Darren Burke from the club's main sponsors, The Big Pet Store.

Halesowen manager John Hill also paid a personal tribute to Denham. Hill said: "There is no doubt that Pete Denham will be a big loss to the club and myself. Since taking over at Halesowen, Pete has been nothing but supportive to me and for this I thank him.

"He is a top physio and top bloke. We wish him every success and happiness in the future and a warm welcome awaits him back here at The Grove at any time."

Halesowen have appointed Rob Woodbine as Denham's successor as physio and Hill added: "Rob has been with the club for a long time and is also a quality physio. The transition I'm sure will go smoothly."
