Former sponsorship boss mourned

By David Watters

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League chairman Mark Harris paid tribute to Rob Jenkins on Friday after one of the key figures behind the long-running Unibond title sponsorship sadly passed away.

The EVO-STIK NPL's chairman announced the death of the former sponsorship manager for Unibond's parent company Henkel in a message to club officials after learning of his passing on Wednesday.

Harris wrote: "It is my sad duty to inform you that Rob Jenkins passed away this morning. He had, as many of you know, been ill for some time and had only been released from hospital last week having received treatment for cancer.

"Rob served as sponsorship manager for Henkel throughout UniBond’s sponsorship of the NPL and became a great friend to many within the league. Right up to January he was regularly watching our games and will be sadly missed. I am sure your thoughts, like mine, will be with Rob’s family."

The date and arrangements for the funeral of Mr Jenkins will be passed on to clubs when known after the chairman sent the Northern Premier League's condolences to his family this week on behalf of all 68 clubs.
