Foster back at the helm

Dave Foster is back in charge of Kendal Town after stepping up on Sunday to manage the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Mintcakes again.

The club's assistant manager last season and manager from 2012 until September 2014, pictured, was named as the new head coach at Parkside Road on Sunday.

Foster, pictured, will be assisted by last season's caretaker boss Gary Fawcett and Steve Whitehouse when the Mintcakes embark in August on the 2016-17 EVO-STIK NPL First Division North campaign.

Mintcakes chairman George Gudgeon said: "We were pleased with the calibre of candidates for the position of head coach and are grateful to all that applied. After careful consideration the decision was based on what was best for the club at this stage of it's development."

Appointed in December as the temporary successor to Michael Stringfellow, Fawcett, the club's former U23 manager relinquished his duties at the end of the season after guiding them to a 15th placed finish and safety.

When they advertised for a successor before appointing from within and putting their faith in Foster, officials said they were looking for a head coach with EVO-STIK NPL level experience to inspire their current and future players with an emphasis on youth development.
