Founding father passes away

Ossett Albion are mourning the passing of Jack Ingham, one of the few, if not the last, surviving founders of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Unicorns.

The EVO-STIK NPL First Division North club announced the death of their stalwart at the age of 95 on Wednesday after he passed away in hospital over Christmas following a short illness.

Saddened officials at Dimple Wells say the legendary figure was instrumental in ensuring the West Yorkshire club's stability and progress through both good and difficult times.

Pictured with his two sons and influential former Unicorns players, Philip and David, he was one of a group of school friends who formed the club back in 1944 and remained a staunch supporter throughout his whole life while actively involved in almost every role at Queen's Terrace.

A spokesman said: "Jack will be very fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and his name will forever remain synonymous with Ossett Albion Football Club.

"He was immensely proud that the club he founded was still going strong 72 years on and had, after many years of trying, finally reached the heights of the Northern Premier League."

For those wishing to pay their final respects, details of Mr Ingham's funeral will be publicised on the club's official website as soon as details are known.
