The Steelmen parted company with Wright, pictured, after their 2-1 loss at home to Ilkeston FC on Saturday, a fourth straight defeat that left the club second-from-bottom in the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division table.
The 32-year-old arrived at Steel Park in September 2013 as joint-manager alongside Andrew Wilson before taking sole charge in the summer of 2014 following a takeover at the club by a local consortium led by chairman Stevie Noble.
After winning the EVO-STIK Southern League Premier Division title at the end of his first full season at the helm, Wright, who also ran the club's full time academy, was handed a new two year contract in 2015. Apart from a 4-3 win over Blyth Spartans, his side had lost seven and drawn four of their 12 league outings this term.
Corby Town chairman Noble told northantstelegraph.co.uk on Sunday that the club had to action to halt their current slide in a statement paying tribute to the former Foxes frontman who also scored goals for Aberdeen, Barnsley, Blackpool, Brentford, Darlington, Grimsby Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Luton Town, Tamworth and Walsall.
Noble said: “Tommy has been a great servant and the decision has been made with a heavy heart. But the football club will be here long after I am gone and Tommy is gone and sometimes these decisions have to be made.”
The Steelmen also paid tribute to Wright on twitter, posting the accompanying tweet alongside a picture of the club celebrating their EVO-STIK League Southern championship success: "A huge thank you to Tommy for his great service to the club since arriving in 2013. Especially this special moment at the end of 2014-15."
