Fourth round qualifying draw made

By David Watters

The EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's flag-bearers in the world's oldest cup competition are running the rule over their next opponents following the draw for the Emirates FA Cup's Fourth Qualifying Round.

With £12,500 in prize money and a place in the First Round proper up for grabs, ten teams went into the hat for the draw which was made live on Colin Murray's show on TalkSPORT at 11am.

Stourbridge booked one of the ties of the round to be played over the weekend of Saturday 24 October.

As their reward for Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Black Country and Premier Division rivals Rushall Olympic, the Glassboys are now preparing for a huge local derby against a Kidderminster Harriers side who are still winless in the National League.

If Salford City can overcome Bradford Park Avenue in their replay on Wednesday night, they'll host another National League outfit in Southport. Either Marine or Northwich Victoria have also landed another plum tie, National League North Chorley at home.

First Division South Spalding must still overcome Sporting Khalsa, one of the two Step 5 clubs left in the competition, for the chance to host either Buxton or last season's top flight champions, National League North FC United of Manchester.

First Division South Chasetown, preparing to replay against Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday night, will host North Ferriby United United if they go through while Rugby Town could host Bamber Bridge in an all EVO-STIK NPL clash if they can overcome Brackley and First Division North Brig can beat Kettering in their respective replays.

Premier Division Barwell, one of the first clubs out of the hat, have booked AFC Rushden & Diamonds, conquerers of Ashton United at the weekend, at Kirkby Road on Saturday week.

Manager Jimmy Ginnelly was more than happy with his side's lot despite missing out on Football Conference opposition.

He said: “We are happy with that. But it’s by no means an easy game as they are an in-form team. Some people were perhaps looking for a draw against one of the big Conference Premier sides like Tranmere Rovers but I wasn’t.

“We want to get through and be in amongst the Football League clubs which would be great for Barwell if we could do it for the first time."
