Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Trafford held their nerve on Monday night to lift the Manchester Premier Cup at the fourth time of trying.
Garry Vaughan’s Premier Division side and the club’s mascots are pictured celebrating at Bury’s Gigg Lane after coming from behind against relegated Conference outfit Hyde FC to win 4-2 on penalties.
Hyde went ahead after only five minutes through David Poole before goals from Martyn Andrews after 37 minutes and then Shelton Payne on 65 minutes gave Trafford the lead. Hyde equalised with nine minutes to go before the tie went straight to penalties and Trafford kept their cool to triumph in the shoot-out.
Trafford match secretary and spokesman Dave Murray hailed the club's cup winners. "This is the first time we have won this cup and what a way to look forward to the start of our 25th anniversary season in August," said Murray.
