Badgers set to start bouncing back by August

Eastwood Town

Former Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club Eastwood Town are on their way back after agreeing a deal with the Football Association.

The Badgers resigned from First Division South in February after they were locked out of their council owned ground at Coronation Park over unpaid bills and subsequently failed to fulfill a number of fixtures.

The Nottinghamshire club's record this season was expunged in March when their resignation was accepted by the Evo-Stik NPL and they've since been negotiating with the FA and a number of leagues to return to the pyramid.

On Tuesday the Badgers announced that they have been officially offered a place in the Senior Division of the Notts Senior League for the 2014-15 campaign although their entry is still subject to confirmation of the use of Coronation Park or a suitable Step 7 venue.

Simon Matters, one of the officials behind the reformation of the town's club, is still hoping they may be able to rejoin at a higher level and possibly Step 5.

He said: "I have been and continue to work with Mike Appleby [the National League Systems Manager] at the Football Association, in respect of a move into Step 5 and the East Midlands Counties League. But at least we now know at the very least we have a place in the Notts Senior League with promotion just one step away from the EMCL."
