Free entry to Wednesday's A6 derby clash

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Buxton are planning to make good on their promise to offer fans free entry to their rescheduled clash with Matlock Town on Wednesday night after the original fixture on Boxing Day was abandoned due to floodlight failure.

The Bucks say they are throwing open the turnstiles at Silverlands for the A6 ‘derby’ clash on April 9 as both clubs slug it out for local bragging rights in the Premier Division encounter.

Buxton Chairman David Hopkins is hoping for a big crowd and a cracking atmosphere for the fixture which kicks off at 7.45pm.

Hopkins, pictured left receiving the club's FA Charter Standard Award from the Derbyshire FA recently, said: "This is a unique opportunity for the local community as well as football fans from far and wide to come and sample Non-League soccer at its finest for no cost.

"The matches with our local rivals from Matlock Town over the years have produced some superb encounters and this promises to be another."
