Officials at Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Clitheroe are keeping their fingers crossed that their local authority will approve plans for a £40,000 redevelopment of their Shawbridge home.

The First Division North’s Blues have submitted an application to the borough council to replace the current changing rooms which are on their "last legs" after being constructed in 1998.

To comply with ground grading regulations in time for next season the club is also planning to build a new toilet block which must be separate from their clubhouse.

Clitheroe, who have also announced plans to launch a new youth side next term, have submitted an application to the Football Foundation to fund half the project.

Andrew Jackson, the club’s spokesman and finance director, told the Lancashire Telegraph on Friday: "The changing rooms that we have at the moment are on their last legs and are in need of replacing.

"We are keeping our fingers crossed the planning application is accepted as soon as possible so we can get on with improving the club. We would like the work to be completed for the start of next season."
