Garton steps aside, temporarily

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Carlton Town have announced that Chairman Mick Garton has stepped down temporarily to concentrate on his business interests.

The First Division South club's Vice-Chairman Chuck Fowler took the reins this week following Garton's decision to step aside.

Garton, pictured, is currently reconstructing his business interests in the run-up to a busy Christmas period but will still be attending as many matches as possible and supporting the club.

The Millers say Fowler, who has been at the club for 12 years and taken the helm at the Bill Stokeld Stadium previously, will be backed up by the club's committee during Garton's absence.

In his first game as Chairman, Fowler saw Millers manager Les McJannet successfully lift heads on Wednesday night with a 0-0 draw at home to Lincoln after their 5-0 drubbing at Coalville Town last Saturday. The Millers host Brigg Town on Saturday in the FA Cup's First Qualifying Round.
