Curzon Ashton FC are celebrating passing the 1000 point milestone as members of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

The First Division North Nash's 3-2 win over Bamber Bridge on Saturday saw them reach 1001 points and on Wednesday the millennial men added three more with a 4-1 win at Padiham.

Curzon Ashton, founder members of the NPL First Division in the 1987-1988 season, have taken their time over joining the NPL's 1000 points club. They only avoided relegation in that first season by winning a reprieve due to the league's expansion from 19 to 22 clubs. After finishing fourth in 1996-97, they were relegated the following season, ending a ten year association having amassed 510 points.

Curzon took 10 years to return but came back as stronger club with a new home and income stream at the Tameside Stadium. Apart from last season, they've reached the play-offs at the end of every campaign.

The Nash are away at Marine in the FA Cup on Saturday and return to league action next Saturday at Northwich Victoria. Club Secretary and resident statistian Robert Hurst says two more milestones are now in sight, one unwanted. While their 300th victory is now only 19 away, they're only four away from conceding their 1000th goal!
