Ghaichem turns down leaders

Jimmy Ghaichem has turned down North Ferriby United to sign a new contract at Frickley Athletic that will keep the winger at Westfield Lane until at least the end of next season.

The 28-year-old, pictured, was the subject of a seven day notice of approach but rejected the chance to switch to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Premier Division leaders to commit his immediate future to the Blues on Saturday.

Ghaichem was signed by Blues manager Karl Rose in the summer from Scarborough and has previously played for Parkgate, Harrogate Town, Alfreton Town, Worksop Town, Buxton, Peterborough United, Sheffield Wednesday and Mansfield Town.

The signing of Ghaichem on a new contract follows hard on the heels of club captain Matty Bloor also signing until the end of next season as Rose sets about securing the spine of his team ahead of the next campaign in the face of stiff competition from rival clubs.

Frickley say Jake Picton has also been the subject of a seven day notice of approach from another Premier Division club. He too turned down the chance to move along with Gavin Allott who's also been the subject of another recent approach.
