Gingerbread friendly planned

Match fitness required for Grantham

Grantham Town have arranged a friendly for Tuesday 31st January at the Meres against Barrow Town of the East Midlands Counties League - Premier Division.

With no game last Saturday and important matches upcoming, Gingerbreads joint manager Wayne Hallcro was more than happy to quickly respond to the Leicestershire sides’ call for a fixture. Similar to the Gingerbreads, The Riversiders have suffered a lack of fixtures in recent weeks.

“It is a great chance to get match practice in before we face New Mills.” Hallcro said. “Aside from the postponements we have Sam Purcicoe and Sam Saunders who have now missed three weeks of football, Gio Carchedi coming back from injury and new signing Gary King all wanting to play.”

Striker King signed for Grantham last week after a short spell at county neighbours Stamford.

“He made an impression on me when I was at Stamford.” Hallcro said of the Gingerbreads new signing. “We spoke with him before he joined Stamford and when it didn’t work out for him there, he got back in touch and we were happy to sign him. At this stage of the season, new faces always give a fresh impetus to the side and we hope Gary will keep us on top of our games.”

Kick off against Barrow is at 7.45 and admission to the Meres will be £2.
