Gingerbreads release defender

Grantham Town

Grantham Town joint manager Wayne Hallcro today [Wednesday] announced that defender Michael Jacklin has left the club by mutual consent, writes Graham Cowell.

"It just didn’t work for him here," Hallcro said. "We wish him all the best wherever he ends up. He will be a very good player for someone somewhere."

Jacklin, pictured, joined the Gingerbreads from Worksop Town in February 2012, making 21 appearances for Grantham without becoming a regular starter.

The Gingerbreads joint managers are looking at a potential new signing with Hallcro hoping that things will be resolved to allow the signing to be completed in time for their Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division trip to Kendal on Saturday.

"We are working hard to get someone in to shake things up a bit," Hallcro revealed. "There are a number of things we are looking at and are hoping to have agreed terms to bring someone in before Saturday."
