Grantham keeper heads for Hucknall

The Gingerbreads moved at the end of the week to secure young goalkeeper James Martin on contract and then immediately sent the talented youngster out on loan to gain match sharpness.

Grantham's joint managers Jimmy Albans and Wayne Hallcro have sent Martin on loan to Hucknall until at least the end of December to help out the Yellows' new manager, former Gingerbreads player Gary Sucharewycz.

Martin, pictured, signed a contract over the weekend after convincing the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club that he was worth investing in after doing well in the three games he's played since joining from Evo-Stik NPL First Division South Stamford.

Albans said: "While Jimmy Lindley is number one choice at the club at the moment James is one for the future without a doubt."

The joint manager revealed that Grantham have retained a 48 hour recall on Martin's services and may extend the loan further.

He added: "James will get some good experience at Hucknall. He will be there if we need him, fully ready to play and when he comes back to us he will be a better player for the experience."
