Grayson heads to Sheffield

Right-back Ashley Grayson has swapped EVO-STIK League Premier Division Basford United for East Division club Sheffield FC.

Grayson, 28, made 135 appearances for Basford after joining them from Mickleover Sports back in 2015.

Basford boss, Martin Carruthers, told the club’s official website: "I'm absolutely gutted to see him leave but I totally understand his reasons. He has been a truly great servant to the club and was loved by everyone.

"Not only a fantastic player for us but a top lad around the dressing room. He has been integral in all our recent success and played a key role in our title win last season. He goes with our best wishes and I can’t speak highly enough of Ash.

"He gave 100% all of the time and will be sorely missed. We wish Ash good luck and he will be welcome back at the club anytime.”
