Stamford's fans can start looking forward to moving into a new stadium the season after next after the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club won the backing of their local council this week.

The Evo-Stik NPL First Division South Daniels moved a massive step closer on Tuesday night to building a new ground and sports educational facility for the 2014-15 campaign when South Kesteven District Council’s Development Control Committee granted detailed planning consent.

Subject to meeting planning conditions, the innovative multi-million pound development, pictured, is now on course after the Daniels went into partnership with the Burghley House Preservation Trust/Burghley Estate Leisure Limited and New College Stamford.

Stamford AFC's Director of Football, Guy Walton, said: "The club is committed to the partnership's vision of an education and sporting facility. This particular project will deliver an innovative solution to the sporting demand of our community which will benefit many generations to come.

"This sporting hub will allow the Daniels to deliver a long term football development plan and engage with community, sporting & charitable ventures. Our Charter Standard 'Community' Club has an expanding youth policy and our relationship with New College will only enforce a vision that will add to sporting participation and Olympic legacy."
