Guiseley confirm capture of Runcorn keeper

Guiseley have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Danny Taberner from Runcorn Linnets ahead of the 2023-24 season.

The 29-year-old had a really successful season last year with the Yellows. He won Managers Player of the Year, Young Supporters’ Player of the Year and Supporters Player of the Year. In total, he made 52 appearances last season, as the Linnets came agonisingly close to promotion to step three.

Taberner started his career with Rochdale, and has since gone on to represent Stockport Sports, Salford City, Atherton Collieries, Prestwich Hays, Ramsbottom United, Northwich Victoria, Cheadle Town and City of Liverpool.

He joined Runcorn ahead of the 2022-23 season from Atherton, and became a popular member of the group.

Upon signing for the club, he said he hopes to be able to have a similar reputation with the fans as he did at Runcorn.

“I had a really good rapport with the Runcorn fans and I am looking forward to the same at Guiseley,” he said.

“I like to take time out and meet the fans, for me it is a big part of non-league football.

“I look at Guiseley as a massive club and I want to help them to gain promotion. I will be aiming to keep as many clean sheets as possible.”
