Mark Lees back where it all started

Mossley have announced the return of midfielder Mark Lees ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Lees started his career at Seel Park as part of the youth setup. He has since played for Stalybridge Celtic, Ashton United, Altrincham and Hyde United.

He returned to the club ahead of the 2019-20 season, but his time there was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic.

After leaving, he also played for Matlock Town and Wythenshawe Town, before returning to Seal Park.

Upon signing for the club, Lees spoke of the impression the club made on him as a young player.

“I was only here for a short time during the season that was cut short by COVID, but the club made a huge impression on me,” he said.

“Mossley Juniors were the first team I played for as a youngster so I’ve always had a soft spot for the club and wanted to come back and play again!

“I know the club have come close to the playoffs in previous seasons and my hope is that we can go one better and get promoted.

“When I spoke to [Mossley manager] David [Fish], it was a no-brainer and I can’t wait to get started.”
