Hadfield returns to Robins

Ashton United

Jordan Hadfield has rejoined Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division Ashton United after a break of three years, writes Jez Sayle.

Hadfield, 25, is hoping to be in manager Danny Johnson's squad for Wednesday night's league trip to Marine.

He should have returned to the Robins' line-up sooner after recently playing for Ashton in a trial game at Northwich but the match had to be abandoned after the midfielder suffered a serious facial injury requiring surgery.

Thankfully now fully recovered, he will be battling it out for a place in central midfield despite the fact that his name doesn't begin with a 'B', unlike all of Johnson's other middle men - Baker, Beattie, Baguley and Burke!

Salford-born Hadfield first joined Ashton in 2009, before stepping back up the Football Ladder to join Kettering Town in the Conference. After an injury-hit time with The Poppies, Hadfield returned to the Manchester area to join Evo-Stik NPL First Division North Radcliffe Borough in 2011.

The former Stockport, Macclesfield and MK Dons man has a wealth of Football League experience under his belt, including an FA Cup trip to Chelsea as a Macclesfield Town player, when he marked and swapped shirts with Frank Lampard.
