Charity fundraisers Shannon Haley and Eleanor Imrye were sure to be wearing their bobble hats at Croft Park on Saturday when Blyth Spartans took on Worksop Town after having their heads shaved for charity.
Despite the freezing weather, the brave 18-year-olds, pictured, underwent a hair-raising, or more accurately hair-losing, stunt for Cancer Research UK after the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's recent clash with Ilkeston.
Spartans stars Damen Mullen and Neil Hooks trimmed their locks in front of supporters after their 3-2 win over the Robins to help the pair exceed their expectations and raise more than £1000 for the leading cancer charity.
Life-long Spartans supporter Haley, who is hoping to study Cancer Genetics at University and has happily seen her dad beat cancer in recent years, said: "It was a bit scary. But we are pleased we did it. It hurt a little but the hair is growing back slowly. Unfortunately it’s coming back a bit patchy!"
