Harris, 23, is three seasons in to his second spell at the club, having played for Farsley Celtic in between.
He came through the club’s academy, and played for Brighouse at U16s, U18s and U21s.
Manager Vill Powell said: "Kurt has improved as a player and a person from day one of me signing him.
“He has grown as an influential figure in the dressing room and he does things in the right way pushing himself and others in the right way.
“His communication skills and leadership skills along with his calmness are great attributes to have as the club captain.
“Kurt should be an inspiration to the BTAFC Academy lads as I’m looking for them to be the future of the football club and if they want it enough they will get to where they want to be as we are a club that give players a chance."
