Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Marine are heading back to the West Lancashire Golf Club for the second year running to stage their annual golf day.

The Premier Division's Mariners announced details of the club's thirteenth annual golf day on Tuesday with Blundellsands, pictured, chosen to host the event on Monday 2 June for the second year in succession.

Founded in 1873, the West Lancashire Golf Club is among the ten oldest golf clubs in England. Boasting one of the most natural and testing links in the British Isles, it is ranked among the UK's top one hundred courses and has hosted the final qualifying rounds for The Open Championship when the tournament has been played at Royal Liverpool, Royal Lytham and Royal Birkdale.

Imaginative and varied in layout, the course offers stunning views of the Mersey Estuary and the Welsh Mountains. Marine Chairman Paul Leary is looking forward to another another great day after the success of last year's event at the course which offers stunning views of the Mersey Estuary and mountains of North Wales.

Leary said: "Marine Football Club is pleased to announce that our annual fundraising golf day is again to be staged at the nearby West Lancashire Golf Club following our hugely successful event held for the first time at the Blundellsands course last year. The support by the golf club, and especially the assistance given by their staff to our event, was first class and I had no hesitation in choosing the course and its superb facilities again.

"The challenging course provides an increased interest in our tournament in what will again be a very important day for our football club. I'm looking forward to another great golfing day for our football club and to meeting up again with the teams on the day, most of which have supported our event for a number of years. I am delighted that we have teamed up again with the West Lancashire Golf Club for the second successive year."

Entry to the Marine Golf Day is £425 per team of four. The tournament is managed by former Marine player and Vice President Brian Verinder and commences with a two tee start just after lunch followed by dinner and presentation of the awards to the tournament winners in the evening.

Any new teams interested in entering the tournament should contact Paul Leary on 07855 275722 or via email at: learymarine@aol.com. More information about the West Lancashire Golf Club's superb course and facilities can be found on www.westlancashiregolf.co.uk.
