Ilkeston announce new academy partnership

Ilkeston Town have announced that they are launching a new academy in September 2020.

The BetVictor S/East Division side released a statement today.

"The club are pleased to announce a new look academy in partnership with SCL Education Through Sport.

"The new academy will recruit young players of school leaving age who wish to pursue a career in football. The new recruits will be expected to continue with their education as part of the academy’s ethos to provide them with the life skills necessary for adult life.

"From the beginning of the 2020/21 season every player enrolled on the course will have the potential opportunity to play for Ilkeston Town reserves or the under 23’s squad.

"The initial two-year course will incorporate football and learning for all players, delivering sporting and educational excellence. Every recruit will have a plan designed specifically to be of benefit to them and the club both on and off the pitch."

Head of Football Mark Clifford said “This is a very exciting time for the whole club, we are creating pathways for players to play beyond the youth set up, train and develop everyday alongside a quality education provider."
