Former Northern Ireland, Plymouth Argyle and Cardiff City defender Tony Capaldi has signed on for Rushall Olympic's EVO-STIK League campaign.

The Pics announced on Wednesday that the experienced Capaldi, pictured, had signed for manager Richard Sneekes three days before their Premier Division campaign kicks off on Saturday away at Frickley Athletic.

The 33-year-old was at Barwell last season and won 22 caps for Northern Ireland at full international level making him Plymouth Argyle's most capped player with 21 appearances. He also played in the Football League for Leeds United, Morecambe and Oxford United.

Capaldi kicked off his career at Birmingham City where he came through the youth ranks as a trainee. After a loan spell at Hereford United, he signed for Plymouth Argyle in 2002 and spent five successful years at the club, making 141 appearances and scoring 12 goals before moving on to Cardiff City.

In a statement announcing his arrival on their website, the club said: "All at Rushall Olympic FC welcome him to the club and wish him well in his career at the Pics."
