JJ Hooper set for South Shields exit

South Shields have confirmed that striker JJ Hooper has been granted permission to speak to multiple clubs over a potential move away from the club.

He first arrived at the 1st Cloud Arena in November last year.

A player of National League pedigree, the 28-year-old previously featured for Barnet following spells with the likes of Wrexham, Bromley and Grimsby Town.

A club statement read: “The club has held numerous discussions with the forward regarding his future, and he has been informed he does not feature in manager Kevin Phillips’ plans for selection.

“Several offers have been made to the player regarding opportunities to leave the club, and updates are awaited on how he wishes to proceed.”

South Shields are next in action on Saturday when they host Stafford Rangers.
