Former Stafford Rangers and Mickleover Sports midfielder Sean Kinsella is expected to be out of the game for up to two months after breaking his ankle on his debut for EVO-STIK League Leek Town.

The 22-year-old, pictured playing for Rangers, became manager Lee Casswell’s third summer signing at the First Division South Blues last week and was hurt 30 minutes into Saturday's 6-1 by the Blues over a youthful Port Vale side at Harrison Park.

Kinsella joined Mickleover Sports in March and played his part in the First Division South club’s run to the play-off final, setting up two of the Derbyshire side's three goals in the semi-final victory at Coalville Town.

Witnesses said he went down in pain having stumbled awkwardly on the pitch. Officials at the Blues say subsequent x-rays have revealed that the break was not as bad as was originally feared.

Casswell said: "We said to the lads before the game we want to be positive and we were – we got a lot out of the game. On a negative note though is the news that Sean Kinsella will be out of the game four up to 8-weeks after breaking his ankle."

In other team news, Casswell has confirmed the signing of the remaining two players from last season as his squad takes shape for the new camaign. Ahead of the friendly against Port Vale on Saturday, he had already secured the signing of nine of his players and added Matt Bell and Dan Shelley after the game.

Casswell has also strengthened his squad with the signing of striker Mitch Husbands and full-back Ashley Jackson from Worksop Town as well as young winger Isaac Cooper from Redditch United. He is also running the rule over midfielder Tom Lowe from Leek CSOB and Bradley Moorhead, a goalkeeper from Newcastle Town.
