Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is teaming up with Marine to back the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's ongoing ground appeal and raise funds for his own community charity.

Carragher, who recently announced his intention to retire at the end of the current season after making more than 700 appearances for Liverpool, will be guest of honour at a fundraising night at the Arriva Stadium on Thursday 18 April.

Proceeds from the event in the College Suite, which will also feature internationally renowned comedian John Martin, will be shared between the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division outfit and the England defender's 23 Foundation.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary is delighted that Liverpool's all record appearance holder in European competition has agreed to entertain fans with tales from his long career and thanked Carragher for finding the time to support them.

The Mariners Chairman said: "This really is a very special evening for Marine Football Club. We are delighted that we are able to help raise funds for Jamie’s 23 Foundation and Jamie’s attendance at Marine will in turn help our Club to raise funds towards a new spectator stand at the Crossender Road end of the ground.

"I am looking forward to meeting Jamie in what should be a superb evening and is a great chance for Liverpool fans to meet him in person. Demand for tickets within Marine has been exceptional and there are just a limited number remaining for sale.

"We have had many sporting dinners over the years and this is the first time that a current player from either Everton or Liverpool has agreed to be the main guest which is fantastic and I thank Jamie for agreeing to the event in what must be a very busy time for him in his final few months as a Liverpool player."

Tickets for the evening are £45. For more information call Marine Clubrooms on 0151 924 1743.
