Lairds live on radio

Live commentary from Cammell Laird’s league action hits the airwaves for the first time next Saturday when 7 Waves Radio starts broadcasting from Kirklands.

The Evo-Stik NPL First Division North club’s FA Trophy clash again Halifax saw them make their debut on the Wirral’s community station earlier this month. The station will now cover all their fixtures, home and away, until the end of the season, starting with Clitheroe at home on December 1.

Lairds spokesman Phillip Wilkinson is a volunteer at the station and will commentate on the club’s action. He says the new permanent coverage is great news for fans across the league who can listen in via the internet.

He said: "This is not just a boost for Cammell Laird FC and 7 Waves Radio but is also good for all clubs. Fans who aren’t travelling can listen to the game from the comfort of their own homes.

"Apart from coverage on the FM frequency, there is also a live stream so fans up and down the country can simply click to listen live on the station’s website. It’s as simple as that."

He added: "This is a massive step forward for all parties, myself included. I would like to thank all at 7 Waves for their backing of this venture and also to Cammell Laird who’ve been fantastic in giving their full support."
