Lancaster catch World Cup winning goalkeeper

Lancaster City have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Curtis Anderson from Wycombe Wanderers.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper began his career in Blackpool's youth academy, before making a switch to Manchester City in 2012.

Anderson went on to play in the U17 World Cup final for England, as they defeated Spain to lift the trophy.

In 2019, Anderson made his full professional debut for second-tier North American side Charlotte Independence.

He made 10 appearances for the Jacks before securing a move to Wycombe Wanderers in September 2020.

Following a series of short-loan spells at Walton Casuals and Eastbourne Borough, Anderson made the move to the Dolly Blues.

On his new signing, manager Mark Fell told Lancaster City: "We’ve got an unbelievable goalkeeper here, once we knew there was a chance he’d be moving on from Wycombe we moved quickly to ensure we got the deal over the line.

"Curtis is still young but has played in a major tournament and had experience of non-league football on loan.

"This is likely to be a stepping stone back into the full-time game for him, but he gives us stability in the GK department for the next 16 games and that’s critical.

"His experience, albeit at a young age, will help our other young keepers at the club and I know Mark Thornley is excited to work with him.”

Lancaster City's upcoming fixture is against Grantham, which Anderson is cleared to play in.
