Ahead of their midweek clash with Whitby Town, Seasiders boss Curtis Woodhouse had no fit shot-stopper at 9:30am as both Michael Roxburgh and Jaan Yacqub were struggling with illness.
The club brought in Oliver Swan and Matty Wilkinson, with the former impressing on debut.
Swan, signed on loan from Middlesbrough, pulled off a string of impressive saves, but it wasn’t enough to stop his side falling to a 2-1 defeat away from home.
Swan signed his first professional deal at the Riverside last May.
Speaking post-match, manager Curtis Woodhouse said: “Young Ollie did brilliantly, so fair play to him.
“He kicked it well and his handling was clean. So yeah, I’m really happy for him."
