Lawson doubles up as top boss

Skelmersdale United's Tommy Lawson was the first of October's Evo-Stik NPL Managers of the Month to be honoured on Saturday after winning the Evo-Stik First Division North accolade for the second time this season.

Lawson won August's award for his side's flying start to the campaign and was named on Wednesday. North Ferriby United's Billy Heath was named the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division Manager of the Month and King's Lynn Town's Gary Setchell was voted the top manager in Evo-Stik NPL First Division South.

Each manager is presented with an inscribed certificate marking their achievment and personalised items from the Errea benchwear range by representatives of the league and sponsors Bostik, the parent company of league title sponsors Evo-Stik.

League representative John Beaumont was at the West Lancashire College Stadium to make the official presentation to Lawson, pictured. Skem won 2-1 to stay second behind leaders Mossley and to mark Lawson's early season managerial double he was also presented with a bottle of Famous Grouse Whiskey.

Skem's manager, who saw his team put seven goals past Clitheroe in a 7-1 triumph 24 hours before the monthly awards were announced, said: "Naturally I am delighted but I am only the figurehead for the coaching team. Brian Richardson and Andy Paxton also deserve recognition as do the players for their efforts. If they hadn’t performed so well this season this wouldn't be happening at all."

North Ferriby United's Billy Heath is due to be honoured next Saturday for his Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division Villagers' table-topping run. League Finance Director and Marine Chairman Paul Leary is making the presentation before his Mariners kick off against the Villagers.

King's Lynn Town manager Setchell is also due to be honoured next Saturday when the Linnets take on Eastbourne Borough in the FA Trophy's Third Qualifying Round. League respresentive John Beaumont will make the presentation at The Walks.
