Yellows name Sucharewycz as boss

Hucknall Town

Former Yellows star Gary Sucharewycz has been handed the job of reviving rock bottom Hucknall Town.

The 31-year-old central defender officially takes charge at Watnall Road on Wednesday when he'll train the Yellows squad ahead of their Evo-Stik NPL First Division South trip to Halesowen Town.

Sucharewycz, who started his career at Hucknall as a 16-year-old and has had three spells with the club, won the Southern League with Redditch and has also played for Alfreton Town, Hednesford, Leek Town, Matlock Town and Eastwood Town. He returns to take the helm three years after leaving Hucknall to join Grantham Town and is teaming up with another former Yellow, Ian Robinson, who has been appointed as his assistant manager by Chairman Derek Blow.

Hucknall Town coaches Tony Crook and Jody Cauldwell, along with physio Dave Lester, took charge of Saturday's Evo-Stik NPL First Division South 2-0 defeat at home to Mickleover Sports as a caretaking trio following the midweek resignation of manager Brett Marshall.

Marshall and his assistant Graham Walker quit Watnall Road after last Tuesday's 2-0 reverse at Belper Town's Christchurch Road that left the Yellows bottom with nine points from 14 games.

Marshall switched to the Evo-Stik NPL in May after guiding Retford United to the Northern Counties East League championship in his first season at Cannon Park. They were denied promotion and he walked away to take over at Watnall Road.
