Skelmersdale United manager Tommy Lawson landed his first summer target on Tuesday with the capture of Southport keeper Zac Hibbert, writes Neil Leatherbarrow.
Hibbert, pictured, signed for the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division North champions as Lawson continues preparations for his newly promoted team's assault on the Premier Division in August.
The 25-year-old arrives at the West Lancashire College Stadium with a wealth of experience having been a regular in the Sandgrounders' Conference Premier squad over the last two seasons under manager Liam Watson. He was previously with Watson during his successfull spell at Burscough in Conference North.
On the books of both Blackburn Rovers and Accrington Stanley as a youth, the keeper is known for his ability to deal with crosses, a strength he's also showed during spells with FC United of Manchester, Prescot Cables and Clitheroe.
Lawson said: "I have long been an admirer of Zac and I am very pleased to have him at Skelmersdale. He is a goalkeeper who brings with him a lot experience at a higher level for such a young keeper. He will add to the good atmosphere around the club and I know he will be popular with the both the players and the supporters."
