League family hailed after second club helps out

It’s now emerged that not one but two fellow Evo-Stik Northern Premier League clubs came to the aid of Frickley Athletic after thieves and vandals raided their clubhouse.

At the weekend it was revealed that supporters of Whitby Town had produced a number of Frickley-badged mugs, pictured, and mobile phone cases for the Blues to sell and raise funds to cover their losses and damage.

Produced by Seasider Andy Lever, they were delivered to Westfield Lane on Saturday by Town’s own club shop manager George Osborne in time to be sold before Frickley’s 2-1 home win over Barwell.

Now it’s emerged that FC United of Manchester also rode to the aid of their Premier Division rivals following the raid on Athletic’s Big Fellas clubhouse after their 2-0 win over Nantwich Town the previous Saturday.

A large amount of stock and the clubhouse’s television was stolen and when they heard about Frickley’s plight, FC United’s General Manager Andy Walsh put the club in contact with Tim Worrall of Airwave Europe who’s kindly arranged for a refurbished replacement TV to be delivered ready for installation in the near future.

Frickley Athletic Secretary Steve Pennock praised their rivals for coming to their aid, hailing the gestures as another example of the bond that exists among Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's 68 clubs.

He said: "We are extremely grateful for this help and offer our sincere thanks to the people involved at both clubs and also to Tim Worrall at Airwave.

"These are fantastic gestures which, despite the rivalry on the pitch, goes to show the solidarity between Evo-Stik League clubs off the pitch."
