League Statement - Ossett Albion Football Club

By Alan Allcock

Decision by The FA Appeal Board.

The Northern Premier League earlier this season charged Ossett Albion Football Club for playing Adam Jones whilst under FA suspension.

The League taking into account the club’s defence sanctioned that any points gained by Ossett Albion Football Club during the period of player suspension will be deducted from the playing record in accordance with League Rule 6.9.

Ossett Albion Football Club appealed to The FA on the grounds that the League failed to come to a decision to which no reasonable such body could have come. The FA appeal was heard on Monday 12th January 2015 and was dismissed as playing a player whilst under suspension was fact and the League Rule was implemented correctly. The FA did observe that the club was subjected to a set of circumstances to which there was an element of sympathy and this had been reflected in the League sanction relative to the financial penalty. In addition no costs for the Appeal were charged to the club.

Ossett Albion gained three points in the fixture versus New Mills on the 25th August 2014 and will now have these points gained removed from the points total with the deduction being reflected in any published league tables.
