Five star Frickley make the grade!

Officials at Frickley Athletic are celebrating a double helping of good news after Westfield Lane passed its latest ground grading and the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club's snack bar was awarded a five star rating.

They might not be Michelin stars but proud staff at the Premier Division club's Big Fellas Snack Bar for hungry supporters on matchdays can claim to be running one of the cleanest kitchens in football after being awarded the highest rating possible in a food hygiene inspection by Wakefield Council.

In their report, inspectors hailed the cooks for their "very high standard" of compliance with statutory obligations and industry codes of practice.

Delighted officials also announced on Wednesday that the club had its National League System 'C' Grade confirmed by the Football Association.

Westfield Lane was visited by the FA and EVO-STIK NPL's ground grading team at the end of October and after correcting a minor issue, the FA confirmed this week that the ground has retained the grading required for Step 3 football.

In a statement announcing the news, the club thanked fans who'd given up their time to work on the ground.

A spokesman said: "The club wishes to thank everyone who has helped with ground works at various times, mainly over the summer, as without such help it would be extremely difficult for the club to maintain the standards required."
