Leeds outfit offers late away day

By David Watters

West Yorkshire League outfit Whitkirk Wanderers are looking to book a last minute friendly against an EVO-STIK League club.

With a brand new management team in place led by Les Nelson, officials at the Leeds-based club say he is happy to host late opponents on any midweek nights or weekends after the coming one at their Selby Road home.

A Wanderers spokesman said: "The club had been going for more then 80 plus years and we are really trying to keep it going and build some solid foundations so any EVO-STIK team would be massive for our club and the local area after we had the privilege of playing against some top Northern Counties teams this pre-season.

"In terms of playing us, our pitch and facilities are of a very good standard. We are flexible in terms of dates and any possible team willing to help would be fully looked after."
