Leek Town kick off their plans to form at least two new girls teams on Friday.

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's efforts to promote ladies football sees their coaches stage the first of five coaching sessions to find new female players in school years two to six.

Experienced Blues coach Steve Kell who runs Leek Town Community will lead the sessions at Leek Town High School's sport hall from 6-7pm alongside players and other coaches from the First Division South side's existing girls teams. The Blues say Friday's session is free to players from the Staffordshire Moorlands area but a subscription of £2.50 per player will be payable for subsequent sessions which all take place at the same time and venue.

Leek are also hoping to recruit new coaches to work alongside Kell and his team. Enquiries from currently qualified female and male coaches and others not yet qualified, including parents interested in coaching the new teams, are being welcomed. The club say financial assistance will be available to help the new volunteers earn their FA Level One coaching certificates and carry out CRB checks.

Leek Town is an FA Charter Standard club committed to the highest standards of child care and protection. All coaches and others involved in regular contact with children and young people in the club's 24 teams are required to secure CRB clearance and to hold Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid certificates.

Please contact Dennis Bates on 07770 752203 with coaching enquiries and Steve Kell on 07826 206199 on attending the sessions.
