Linnets make first summer signing

Winger Will Saxon has become Runcorn Linnets manager Billy Paynter's first new signing ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The 25-year-old joins from fellow Pitching In NPL West Division side Kidsgrove Athletic, having returned for his second spell with the Staffordshire club in September 2022 after two years at Leek Town.

He made 30 appearances for the Grove last season, featuring against Linnets at the beginning of April as they ran out 1-0 winners in Billy Paynter's first game in charge.

Taking to social media, Saxon said: "[I'm] buzzing about this. Looking forward to getting started with the lads.

"Thanks for the warm welcome from the fans already. I can't wait to get out there, roll on August."

One player who won't be at the club next season is versatile midfielder Tom Moore.

Moore made 41 appearances for the club in all competitions last season but has opted to move onto pastures new as Paynter continues to reshape his squad as they look to mount another promotion challenge next season.
