Linnets tipped for top

Mickleover Sports & Kings Lynn Town

Former Linnets defender Colin Hoyle has backed his old team to finish in the top six of the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South.

Following their 3-1 home defeat on Saturday by Kings Lynn Town, Mickleover Sports's assistant manager told the Lynn News that he saw enough from his ex-club to expect them to be right at the top of the tree come next May.

Hoyle said: "Although we’re disappointed from a Mickleover point of view, I’m pretty sure King’s Lynn will be among the top six come the end of the season.

"Although we’ve gifted them three goals they play to their strengths very well. We’ve been in this league for a number of seasons and you can see they are a good side.

"They’ve got a very solid back four, their number nine was a real handful and the two small lads [Spriggs and Yong] will cause a lot of teams problems with their pace down the flanks."

Hoyle is also the latest coach to join the growing fan club of Linnets striker Russell Dunkley.

Hoyle, who started his own career at Arsenal, added: "Lynn’s number nine was a very good player and he’s going to cause a lot of teams a lot of problems at this level. He gave our two centre-halves a real tough afternoon."
