Steels "Pitch-in" appeal halfway there
After successfully securing grants from Sport England and the Football Foundation to significantly improve the two football pitches opposite the Club's main Look Local Stadium, Steels launched there "Pitch-in" campaign in order to raise the extra £50,000 required.
After only a month of the appeal Chairman Allen Bethel revealed £15,000 has already been raised with an extra £10,000 pledged. He went on to thank the 97 companies and individuals who have donated to date. "We are half way there but still need the balance as soon as possible as the work is due to start at the end of March" he said.
The proposed scheme will result in secure perimeter fencing around the pitches, an improved car parking area and not least carrying out major drainage works and relaying of the playing areas. When completed, it will create pitches to FA standard which the local community can be extremely proud of and which the club's 18 squads and 350+ players deserve. At the same time the Club has plans to repair and renovate the first XI pitch at the main Stadium.
