Loan star signed to lift rock-bottom Rams

After taking a single point from their opening five encounters in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League, Ramsbottom United manager Jon Robinson has brought in attacking midfielder Charlie Russell on loan from Stockport County.

Blackburn-based Russell, 19, is highly rated at Edgeley Park with County manager Neil Young sending him out on a 93 day loan deal to gain more experience in the EVO-STIK NPL's top flight.

The rock-bottom Rams face Sutton Coldfield Town for their first ever game at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

As well as being boosted by the arrival of the teenager from National League North County, Robinson's hoped of kick-starting his side's second season in the Premier Division were lifted this week with news that defensive pair Andy Dawson and Lee Pugh are likely to be fit to face the Royals after recoveing from injury.

Rams officials say midfielder Jamie Rother could also feature for the first time this season at the weekend after finally shaking off a close season injury.
