Leeds United's legendary winger Peter Lorimer is heading down the road from his old stomping ground at Elland Road to Farsley’s Throstle Nest to be guest of honour at the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North club’s annual Sportsman’s Dinner.
The Scotland international, pictured, who made his debut for Leeds aged 15 and went onto make over 500 appearances for the Whites during two spells before playing in Non-League for Whitby Town in 1985-86, has been booked by the Villagers as their after dinner speaker on Friday 9 November.
Since retiring Lorimer has joined the board of directors at Leeds and now works with media outlets including BBC Radio Leeds, Yorkshire Evening Post and Yorkshire Radio.
The Sportsman’s Dinner takes place in the clubhouse at Throstle Nest and will also feature local stand-up comedian Mark Rough. Tickets are £30 and include a three course dinner.
Farsley Supporters Club are organising the event and say tickets are limited. For more information or to book, contact the group’s Chairman Ian Holmes on 07730566056 or e-mail holmesian@hotmail.co.uk.
