To help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, Skem's popular club historian, programme editor and webmaster has agreed to undergo the charity's Brave The Shave challenge and have his curly locks sheared off this Thursday night (8 September).
The 56-year-old reckons he had no choice when he decided to back the charity but to lose the 'Bob Willis' look he's had since it was made famous by the former England fast bowler in the 1980s.
A useful cricketer himself, he said: "I can't run a marathon, I can't cycle very far, if at all and my swimming skills are at a minimum, so any chance of me doing a triathlon to raise money for any charity are nil!
"However, I do have a reasonably untidy 'barnet'. It's taken a couple of years to grow and what better cause to get it cut off and raise as much money as possible for as a much needed charity in Macmillan Cancer Support.
"The nurses at Macmillan do a wonderful job and in the past I've raised well over a £1000 for cancer related charities and I mean to go on as long as my hair keeps growing back, although it may take longer and longer with each passing year!"
He added: "We have all at one time been affected by this deadly killer, myself I lost my younger brother Ian, who was just 49 when he passed away. I'm sure we all have our own stories to tell so please dig deep and support this worthy cause, your support is much appreciated."
