Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Chorley have won the fans vote in a competition to become the ‘default’ team on a hit new football management game.

And two more Evo-Stik NPL clubs – Marine and Darlington – were the second and third choices of gaming fans playing Football Chairman.

A free test version of the game recently made available on iTunes and Google Play has been downloaded more than 500,000 times. To celebrate the launch of a new full version, developers Underground Creative held a vote on who would be the new ‘default’ club, currently occupied by fictional Withington Town.

Available on mobile devices, Football Chairman puts players in the role of the Chairman of a third tier Non-League side. The aim is to build a club capable of rising from the bottom to the very top and along the way gamers can hire and fire managers, approve signings, implement ground improvements and build a top class training facility and youth academy.

After searching for nominations via social media more than 2,500 fans had their say with the trio of Evo-Stik NPL sides being joined in the final five by Ryman Premier Maidstone United and the Calor Premier’s Weymouth.

Weymouth trailed in fifth place with 10 per cent while Maidstone fared little better with 11 per cent. Marine came in third with 15 per cent of the vote, Darlington took second after attracting 30 per cent while Chorley topped the poll with 34 per cent.
