Marine name new reserves manager

Marine have appointed John Carroll to succeed Dave Radin as their new reserve team manager.

Radin left the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division club in the middle of November and on Thursday the Mariners ended their hunt for a replacement when they handed the job of managing their West Cheshire League Division 1 side to Carroll.

The 35-year-old is an FA Level 2 coach and managed North West Counties League Ashton Town from 2009 until earlier this year. He has also managed Liverpool FA Premier League REMYCA Utd and as a player turned out for Congleton Town, Skelmerdale Utd and Ashton Town. Former Burscough and Skelmersdale stalwart Tommy Knox is teaming up with Carroll as his assistant manager.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary believes the club has found the ideal candidate in Carroll to lead the reserves and develop players for manager Kevin Lynch's first team squad.

He said: "I am very pleased with this appointment for Marine Football Club. John brings with him a really good knowledge of local Non-League football. He and Tommy are committed to supporting Kevin [Lynch} and our club's ambitions for both of our senior teams in addition to the ongoing development of our younger players. I congratulate John on his appointment and I am sure he will work very hard with Kevin over the coming years to help bring success to Marine Football Club."

Marine manager Kevin Lynch backed his new colleague to be a success at the Arriva Stadium and is looking forward to working with Carroll.

Lynch said: "I'm really pleased that John has agreed to join our football staff. He will play a key role in the progression of our younger players and managing a successful team in the West Cheshire League. I'm looking forward to a successful working relationship with him in the seasons ahead and I'm excited about the prospects and benefits this appointment will provide for the club."
