Mather moves to Magpies

Mossley's Adam Mather has taken his chance to step up into the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's top flight with Premier Division Chorley.

Mather, who joined the First Division North's Lilywhites at the start of last season, opted to join Garry Flitcroft's Magpies at Victory Park on Wednesday.

Left-sided Mather was Mossley's third highest scorer last season, netting 14 goals in 42 appearances from left-back, midfield and at times, up front.

Mather started his career with New Mills, making over 250 appearances for the Derbyshire outfit before signing for Woodley Sports in the summer of 2011 for an undisclosed fee. He moved to Curzon Ashton a year later but then joined Mossley before kicking a ball for them.

Mather and former Mossley centre-back Keil O'Brien will be making a quick return to Seel Park with Chorley in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 10 August.
